Colnago supports Sven Nys' 2010 Landbouwkrediet team
The 2010 line-up of the Landbouwkrediet Cycling Team assembled in Brussels on Tuesday January 12 for the team’s official presentation. Landbouwkrediet, which includes new Belgian cyclo-cross national champion Sven Nys, will again ride Colnago bicycles this year.
Along with Nys, the team is headed by Bert De Waele. Manager Gerard Bulens was lavish in his praise for this two stars. “These are riders who are truly exemplary at all levels and who also provide an example for other riders,” he said.
The Landbouwkrediet 2010 team has 21 riders, five more than last season. With the exception of Sven Nys, whose program on the road is designed around his ambitions in cyclo-cross and mountain biking, the team wants to make its mark on the road this year.
Among them is Steven Caethoven from the East Flanders region of Belgium. Caethoven is looking forward to riding for a Belgian team after two years on a French squad. “This should allow me to ride a program that suits me better. The successes I’ve achieved in races have been in Belgium. The Flemish classics and semi-classics are my favourites.”
According with Bulens, Davy Commeyne raced mountain bikes last year and grabbed this chance with both hands when offered a place on a road-focused team.
New recruit, Dutchman Hans Dekkers is a sprinter from the Zeeland region who is experienced in the Flanders Classics and therefore an ideal partner for Steven Caethoven.
Bart Dockx is also new to the team. In recent years he has filled a role as a domestique but will be given the chance to play his own card in the Landbouwkrediet team.
As usual the team is working to develop young talent in the professional ranks. Tom Van den Haute and Baptiste Planckaert rode with the team last year as stagaires and now move up to full professional status.
“I’m sure that the new rising stars and the old champions of this winning team will show us the determination and steadfastness to take more victories. With the bicycles that I have designed for each of them, we will continue to give the maximum support to this team,” said Ernesto Colnago.
