Sven Nys - World Champion

For the sec­ond year run­ning, the Colnago Prestige will carry the rain­bow bands of World Champion, and who bet­ter to take the crown from out­go­ing cham­pion Niels Albert, than the King him­self, Sven Nys.

If there was any­thing lack­ing in the pal­mares of a man who has dom­i­nated cyclocross for well over a decade, it was that he had pre­vi­ously only won one World Championship title, and many peo­ple felt that at the age of 36 he was unlikely to cap­ture another. However, like the true leg­end of cyclocross that he is, Sven Nys cap­tured his sec­ond title on 2nd February this year, and with this, cements his place as the great­est cyclocross rider of all time.

Piloting his Colnago Prestiges - bikes that he him­self helped to develop - around a very tricky course in Louisville in the US in epic con­di­tions, Sven rode a mas­ter­ful race. He never over­played his hand, pre­fer­ring to let oth­ers blaze a trail for the major­ity of the race. However, using his killer instinct on the final lap, he forged into the lead, forc­ing com­pa­triot and rival Klas Vanthourenhout to make an error and giv­ing him­self the chance to savour the vic­tory before the line.
