Pogacar: “The 2021 goal is still the Tour”

It was the victory of the year, a Tour de France that will remain in the album of memories the one signed by Tadej Pogacar against compatriot Primoz Roglic. A leap among the greatests ever, so much so that for 2021 the young champion would seem to be headed towards the assault on the second Tour de France. The planning for next year already seems clear enough and the percentages of seeing the Slovenian at the start of the Giro d’Italia are really minimal.

The confirmation has arrived, however, on the first appointment of the new season of the 22-year-old from Komenda: starting with the Challenge Mallorca, a race scheduled for the end of January from 28 to 31. A multi-event race with a good level of participants and the right routes to enter the first race rhythms.

Returning to the race programs, team manager Mauro Gianetti also said: «The Giro is a beautiful race but as the winner of the Tour it is unlikely that he will also participate in the Giro. Also because it is quite obvious that he will face the Tour as an outgoing winner. He has just turned 22, he is a talent to be preserved with the utmost caution. So his approach to the Tour de France will have to be worthy of his quality as a racer but also respectful of his young age. This is why it is unlikely that he will be in the Giro d’Italia “.
