Tadej Pogačar showed he is carrying good form as the Slovenian youngster from UAE Team Emirates finished in 2nd place the 4th stage of the Grande Boucle, 160.5 km from Sisteron to Orcières -Merlette with 4 mountain passes to tackle, plus the 1st category final climb.
Stage victory went to Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma) who claimed the uphill sprint after a lot of work by his teammate Wout Van Aert. The Belgian imposed a very high pace in the lead group on the last ascent, bringing no more than 15 riders inside the final 1000 meters for an uphill sprint between the big names of the Tour de France.
Pogačar showed his freshness, and opened up with a strong burst of power though was outmanoeuvred by his compatriot Roglic. In any case, the second place on the stage brings with it the prize of the white jersey of leader of the youth classification, with a 6 ”advantage over the winner of the 2019 Tour, Egan Bernal (Ineos Granadier).
As for the general classification, Pogačar maintains the 4th place, with a gap of 11” from the leader Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck-Quick Step).
