Quality never breaks

In extreme races such as the Paris-Roubaix of the Nineties, the suspension forks and other mountain bike solutions applied to racing bikes were very common.

In 1994 Colnago revolutionized this trend by introducing the C40, an entirely carbon-made bicycle with straight fork, supplied to Mapei group of Giorgio Squinzi for the first time on the occasion of the Roubaix.

Colnago used all his powerful experience, the technology and the materials for this challenge.

The gamble on the superiority of carbon, or at least that of very high quality used and processed by Colnago, was a landslide victory; the initial doubts about the stiffness and strength of frame and fork were deleted for good by 5 great successes on the pavé between1995 and 2000, with Ballerini (2), Museeuw (2) and Tafi.
