Colnago Second Hand

Unlike many other bike brands, Colnago bikes hold their value well over time. It is common to find rare older models for sale on the secondary market today at prices that are comparable if not higher than newer models.

Colnago welcomes the second-hand market, but has two priorities:

To guarantee anyone buying a new Colnago today that the value of their bike will not suffer excessive and unjustified devaluation, given the quality of the product

To protect private buyers from the risk of scams and counterfeit products.

C68, V4Rs, special editions post 2022

If you are purchasing a bike equipped with NFC Blockchain technology (i.e. Colnago C68, Colnago V4Rs and all special editions produced after April 2022), please follow the purchase procedure on the Colnago app [available on Google Play, and App store].

By following this procedure, you will ensure the authenticity of the bike and be formally registered as its new owner. If the bike is still under warranty, the warranty will be transferred to you and you can enjoy the remaining validity.

To start the procedure, register in the app (user and password are the same as on colnago.com). You will be asked to authenticate yourself by uploading an identity document. After that, you can create your own virtual garage, protected by a password.

Now click on the " + " button and on "second hand". Enter the code sent to you by the seller and follow the requested procedure. You will be asked to pay a fee of €7.89 to certify and authenticate the transfer of ownership of the vehicle on the Colnago encrypted register.

Once you have received the bike, use the app to scan the NFC tag - i.e. the screen-printed sticker located on the down tube just below the bottle cage - to confirm that the bike is now in your possession.

At the end of the procedure the bike will appear in your virtual garage, which you can view on the app and on the website.

V3, G3-X, steel frames and pre-2022 bikes

If you are buying a second-hand Colnago bike without NFC Blockchain technology, follow these rules:

Always ask for the year of first purchase, the exact model name and a photo of the serial number

Search the catalogues of the time to make sure there are no inconsistencies. You can find them in the ‘Past models’ section on our Website

Always ask to see the bicycle in person. Prefer collecting the item in person over other forms of shipping.

If the seller was the first owner, ask to see proof of purchase.

Make sure that the transaction takes place in compliance with tax obligations.

If there are strong doubts that the product may be a counterfeit Colnago, please send an email to customercare@colnago.com, including all information about the model, size, colour and year of first purchase. It is essential to include the serial number and a few photos of the bicycle.

C68, V4Rs, special editions post 2022

If you are selling a bike equipped with NFC Blockchain technology (i.e. Colnago C68, Colnago V4Rs and all special editions produced after April 2022), please follow the sales procedure on the Colnago app [link android, link apple]. [link android, link apple].

First make sure that you have registered the bike on the Colnago app using blockchain technology. Follow this guide for full instructions.

If your bike is registered, on the other hand, you will find it on the main page of the Colnago app, after logging in.

Click on your bicycle and scroll down the page with the specifications. At the bottom you will find the 'sell' button. Click on it, copy the code that appears, and send it to the prospective buyer.

Now wait for the buyer to go through the procedure for purchasing a second-hand Colnago from the app, following the steps above. You will be asked to prove that the bike is still in your possession by scanning the NFC tag located on the down tube, and to upload photos and documents in your possession, such as a photo of the proof of purchase, or pictures of the bike in the state it was in at the time of sale, taking photographs of any signs of wear and tear to bring to the attention of the prospective buyer. If you do not have proof of purchase, don't worry, it is not compulsory.

The procedure is considered complete when the final buyer scans the NFC tag with his/her device, certifying that ownership of the bike has been transferred.

V3, G3-X, steel frames and pre-2022 bikes

If you are buying a second-hand Colnago bike that is not equipped with NFC Blockchain technology, please follow these rules:

Always inform the buyer of the year of first purchase, the exact model name and send a photo of the serial number.

If you can find any Colnago advertisements, articles or catalogues relating to the model you are selling, share them with the buyer to help them recognise the authenticity of your product. You can find catalogues in the 'Past Models' section of this Website.

Always ask the buyer to come and see the bicycle in person. In this way, you can protect yourself against possible defects not found in photos. Also remember that, compared to other forms of shipping, delivering an item personally reduces the risk of damage caused by third-party transport services. If you are the first owner, please share a photo of your proof of purchase.

Make sure that the transaction takes place in full compliance with your country's tax obligations.
