Elisa Longo Borghini tamed the 2025 Giro d’Italia Women with a champion’s poise and a flawless team effort alongside UAE Team ADQ.

To celebrate her second consecutive triumph, Colnago has created a special tribute: a unique pink V5Rs, painted in the same shade of rosa she wore on the podium in Imola.

Colnago V5Rs – “A bike that follows me”

Earlier this spring, Elisa told us about her instant connection with the new V5Rs: she describes it as responsive, lightweight, and capable of “following her” at every acceleration. Built with a compact frame and ENVE SES 4.5 wheels, the complete bike weighs in at around 6.8 kg—right on the UCI regulatory limit.

How the Giro Was Won

The 33-year-old rider from Ossola, leader of UAE Team ADQ, turned the race around on Monte Nerone with a masterful team effort orchestrated by Silvia Persico. It was there that Elisa Longo Borghini gained the decisive 16 seconds needed to snatch the maglia rosa from Marlen Reusser—and held it all the way to the finish line in Imola.

In the final general classification, Longo Borghini finished 18 seconds ahead of Reusser, with young climbing talent Sarah Gigante rounding out the podium at 1 minute and 11 seconds back.

The Art of Team Racing

While Elisa showed her trademark grit on the climbs, the true turning point came on the flat roads of the Veneto region. During the Mirano–Monselice stage, UAE Team ADQ split the peloton with perfectly executed echelon tactics, leaving several GC contenders nearly two minutes behind.

Moments like these reveal what separates a complete champion from the rest of the field: tactical awareness, courage, and unwavering trust in her teammates.

It’s no surprise that Longo Borghini—this year’s undisputed captain of the Emirati squad—described her Giro as “a team triumph even before a personal one.”
